Dr. Samira Azabar doctoreerde dit jaar aan de Universiteit Antwerpen met haar werk 'Halal Resistance: Unraveling Muslims' political agency'. Tegenwoordig werkte ze als Postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan de Radboud Universiteit. Daarnaast heeft ze een uitgebreide ervaring als activiste en binnen het Vlaamse middenveld rond antiracisme en intersectioneel feminisme.
Met het oog op de verkiezingen zal Dr. Azabar op basis van haar onderzoek een aantal pistes verkenning gericht op de politieke participatie van Belgische moslims.

Workshop/Training - "Voorbij stereotypen: moslims & communicatiepraktijken"

Vind je het moeilijk om in gesprek te gaan over de stereotypes die er bestaan over Moslims en de Islam, zowel als moslim als niet-moslim? Voel je vaak frustratie of verlegenheid als deze thema's besproken worden, misschien wel met alle gevolgen vandien in je dagelijks leven?
In deze workshop oefenen we onder leiding van Anikó Pogány (specialist in verbindende communicatie) communicatiepraktijken gebaseerd op Islamitische waarden. In de workshop zal vooral Engels gesproken worden, maar instructiemateriaal is ook in het Nederlands beschikbaar en deelnemers kunnen tijdens de workshop onderling in het Nederlands kunnen communiceren.
De workshop bestaat uit vier sessies, onderbroken door een heerlijke gratis lunch door Fatima's keuken!
Dankzij onze samenwerking met de Britse NGO Apna Haq kunnen we de workshop uitzonderlijk gratis aanbieden. Wees er snel bij want de plaatsen zijn beperkt. De workshop staat open voor iedereen, is gericht op mensen van alle soorten levensbeschouwelijke overtuigingen, en vooral interessant voor vertegenwoordigers van middenveldorganisaties en mediaprofessionals.

Dr. Samira Azabar received her PhD from the University of Antwerp this year with her work "Halal Resistance: Unraveling Muslims' political agency". Nowadays, she workes as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Radboud University. She also has extensive experience as an activist and within Flemish civil society around anti-racism and intersectional feminism.
In view of the upcoming elections, Dr Azabar will explore a number of avenues focused on the political participation of Belgian Muslims based on her research.

Workshop/Training - "Beyond stereotypes: Muslims & communication practices"

Do you find it difficult to engage in conversation about the stereotypes that exist about Muslims and Islam, both as a Muslim and non-Muslim? Do you often feel frustration or embarrassment when these topics are discussed, perhaps with consequences in your daily life?
In this workshop, led by Anikó Pogány (specialist in non-violent communication), we will practice communication based on Islamic values. The workshop will mainly be held in English, but instructions are also available in Dutch and participants can communicate among themselves in Dutch during the workshop.
The workshop will consist of four sessions, interrupted by a delicious free lunch by Fatima's kitchen!
Thanks to our cooperation with the British NGO Apna Haq, we can offer the workshop exceptionally free of charge. Be quick as places are limited. The workshop is open to everyone, aimed at people of all philosophical and religious persuasions, and of particular interest to representatives of CSOs and media professionals.
